Downtown Event Closures
  •  New: There will be full closure of the south half of Monument Circle for the 500 Festival Kickoff to May and Original Farmers’ Market on Wednesday, May 1 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Eastbound lane on Market Street between Penn Street and Illinois Street
    • Meridian Street between Ohio Street and Monument Circle
    • Monument Circle south half
  • New: There will be a full closure for The Shop Indy – Downtown Grand Opening on Friday, May 3 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
    • E. St. Clair Street between College Avenue and Fulton Street
  • New: Multiple partial closures for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon and 5K will impact Downtown Indy on Saturday, May 4 at various times:
    • Senate Avenue between Washington Street and New York Street from 3:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.
    • West Street between Maryland Street and Michigan Street from 1:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
    • Illinois Street between Maryland Street and Ohio Street from 3:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Local Street Closures

  • A full closure of Illinois Street between South Street and Georgia Street will begin on or after Thursday, April 25.
    • The closure of this segment is expected for at least 90 days to allow for the relocation of utility lines required ahead of the Signia by Hilton construction.
    • The detour will route cars to circle in a loop south on Capitol Avenue and north on Meridian Street. Cross streets at South Street and Georgia Street are open.
  • East Bound traffic lane on W. Market Street between Illinois Street and Monument Circle will be completely closed for building construction until further notice.
  • Meridian Street from Arizona Street to just south of Morris Street is closed until further notice for Old Southside neighborhood improvements.
    • Meridian Street is open from Morris Street to Ray Street


North Split Updates

  • Crews will be working around the clock on local streets throughout the North Split project area until further notice. Daytime work on curbs will restrict traffic while nighttime milling and paving will close one with a flagger on site.

Indiana University Health Closures

  • Closures for the new hospital construction until further notice:
    • Intermittent impacts may occur along 16th Street and Capitol Avenue due to construction activities.
  • Closures for Capitol View construction until further notice:
    • Full closure along 15th Street between Capitol Avenue and Byram Place.
  • Closures for Construction Activities until further notice:
    • Full closure on Senate Avenue between 12th Street and 16th Street
  • Closures for IU School of Medicine construction work until further notice:
    • Permanent closure of 15th Street between Senate Avenue and just east of the Neuroscience Center drive.
  • Closures for Central Utility Plant construction until further notice:
    • New: A full closure of Capitol Avenue between 13th and 16th Streets will begin on May 3 for underground utility work.
    • Full closure of 13th Street between Senate Avenue and just west of the adjacent Starbucks entrance.
    • Intermittent lane impacts along 12th Street between Senate and Capitol Avenue due to material deliveries.
  • Closures for underground utility installation until further notice:
    • Intermittent lane closures are anticipated along Capitol Avenue between 13th Street and 16th Street.
    • Intermittent lane closures are anticipated along 13th Street between just west of the Starbucks down to Capitol Avenue.
    • Southbound vehicles approaching 16th Street and Capitol Avenue intersections are encouraged to detour southbound down Meridian Street for access south of campus and Downtown.
  • Closures for AES substation construction until further notice:
    • Intermittent impacts may be expected at the intersection of Senate Boulevard and Senate Avenue due to construction traffic.
