IRT Theatre Camp

For the actor with a bit of experience. Level 2 will dive into more advanced themes of script analysis, monologues, and focused scene work. Whether the actor has a few plays to their credit or several, this camp builds on the existing skillset and takes it to the next level. 

For the musical theatre kid with performance goals. A camp focused on the celebration and performance of classic musicals, like Oklahoma!, My Fair Lady, Guys and Dolls, and more! Musical theatre experience required to participate.  

For the musical theatre kid with performance goals. A camp focused on the celebration and performance of contemporary musicals. From A Chorus Line to The Lion King, from Legally Blonde to Hamilton, this pop-meets-Broadway camp is sure to be a smash. 

This fan favorite is back! This camp will explore all things comedy: improv, stand-up, farce, and more! Using both scripted and improvised stories, campers will experiment with creating characters, timing, delivering a punchline, and – the key to good comedy – being a great team player. 

This brand new camp gives younger actors the big picture of theatre–making! As the name suggests, this camp will give intermediate actors the chance to perform a (short) play at the end of the week. Campers will memorize lines, learn basic staging, and when simple costumes and props are added, they’ve made a play! For the young actor who is a strong reader. 

Geared toward the experienced theatre kid, this camp will focus on physicality. Actors can expect to work on flexibility, coordination, and expression using a wide variety of movement tools. Dance, yoga, and warm-ups are all on the menu as campers use movement to improve their acting skills. 

For campers with theatre experience and a focused interest in acting. This extended camp is a deeper dive into the craft of acting. Campers will spend time in a variety of performance-based classes as well as extended rehearsal time. This exciting extension of IRT’s summer camp will culminate in a performance that will cap off the entire summer of workshops! Application required in order to register.

Where the Sidewalk Ends: The Poetry and Play of Shel Silverstein 

Using the rhythms and rhymes of Shel Silverstein, your young actor will bring words to life! Storytelling, songs, art, and teamwork all come together to connect the dots between performance and playtime. A light snack is provided.
