2025-2026 Season
The Indiana Repertory Theatre’s 53rd Season will be one of new perspectives, powerful storytelling, and community connection. Scheduled from September 16, 2025 to May 10, 2026, the season will bring the regional premiere of a new hit American musical, two Pulitzer Prize-winning plays, our annual holiday tradition, and more in the dynamic six-show lineup.
The 2025-2026 Season includes The 39 Steps, a madcap thriller adapted from the popular Alfred Hitchcock movie; Marie and Rosetta, a play with music about the early rock ’n’ roll legend Sister Rosetta Tharpe and her protege Marie Knight; the holiday favorite Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol; August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play Joe Turner’s Come and Gone; English, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Sanaz Toossi; and for the season closer, the IRT is thrilled to produce the regional premiere of the new hit American musical Come From Away.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Theatre!

madcap romance thriller
In classic Hitchcock fashion, a notorious fugitive and a spellbound blonde travel north by northwest from London to Scotland. Will they save Britain from a den of devious spies? Will they stop arguing and fall in love? Four actors play more than 40 characters in this hilarious takeoff on one of Alfred Hitchcock’s best movies. A comic thrill ride full of plot twists, quick-changes, and laughs, delivered at a delightfully dizzying pace.

the roots of rock ‘n’ roll
Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a fierce guitar playing gospel music legend, an unsung influence on Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jimi Hendrix, and Ray Charles. This magnetic play with music unearths the roots of the fearless “Godmother of Rock ’n’ Roll” and her wide-eyed protégée Marie Knight, as they begin their revolutionary ascent to become one of the most influential teams in music history.

This powerful story from one of America’s greatest playwrights is a Pulitzer Prize–winning masterpiece. At a Pittsburgh boarding house in 1911, descendants of the formerly enslaved have come North, seeking new jobs, new lives, and new beginnings. In this story of spiritual and emotional resurrection, Herald Loomis arrives in search of his lost wife. Haunted by the past, he must regain a sense of his own heritage and identity.

the power of language
“English only” is the mantra that rules a classroom in Iran where four adults prepare for an English language exam. But while a new language may represent a new life, how will it alter their identities? This inspirational Pulitzer Prize winner shows that there is more to life than can be spoken in mere words. A thoughtful and heartfelt exploration of the human desire to belong.

a remarkable true story of resilience
7,000 stranded airline passengers are welcomed to one small town in Newfoundland in the wake of September 11, 2001. Tensions run high and cultures clash, but uncertainty turns into trust while music, dance, and laughter fill the night. A joyous celebration of how even the worst tragedy can be countered with kindness, generosity, and simple human compassion.
